The Diabetes Connection

Why Diabetes Type 2, you may ask? Diabetes echoes through my family history and has touched family, friends and acquaintances. Witnessing the impact of this condition firsthand, I am driven by a desire to make a difference, to offer hope amidst the worry of diagnosis and pave the way for a future of resilience and thriving health. Clearly, I also want to do everything I can to avoid the disease.

For my final project, I delved into the complex world of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 (T2DM), a complex condition that intertwines with lifestyle, genetics, and health choices. I love the prospect that, with early detection and the right interventions, it can be not just managed, but may be even reversed. Stories are plentiful of individuals who, under careful medical guidance, have reclaimed their health through transformative dietary and lifestyle shifts, defying the traditional narrative of irreversible chronic conditions.

In the project, I worked hard to unravel the intricacies of T2DM, exploring its underlying mechanisms, risk factors, and potential avenues for prevention and management. As a Health Coach, my mission is to help enhance the quality of life for those navigating diabetes. To help people thrive, not merely survive.  Alongside your medical doctor, we would work together to move towards healthier outcomes.

From Reset to Resilience – Weight Management

In the realm of health and wellness, I embarked on a purposeful journey—one that began with helping men and women navigate the intricate path of weight loss. I used Arbonne’s 30-Days to Healthy Living program—a structured reset designed to improve habits, nourish the body and provide a long-term strategy for feeling good in your skin.

But here’s the twist: I didn’t stop at 30 days. No, I rode that wellness wave for 9 months and I still practice what I learned. Why? Because weight management isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. It’s about rewiring thoughts, reshaping habits, and finding sustainable balance.

As my commitment deepened, something magical happened. People noticed. They asked questions. They wanted in. And just like that, my wellness tribe grew. Together, I rode the wave of weight loss—one day, one choice at a time.

 

Now, armed with my Health Coaching framework, I guide clients who seek weight loss.  Clients can choose to follow the Arbonne programme or together we write a bespoke plan. But here’s the golden rule: it’s not about crash diets or quick fixes. It’s about commitment—a daily practice. If you’re ready to invest at least six months, we’re in sync.

Remember, resilience beats restriction. Let’s create a sustainable path—one step at a time.

Plant-Powered Wellness

As a former omnivore turned plant-based foodie, I’ve danced between juicy steaks, tandoori chicken, and crispy fish and chips. But in January 2018, my husband and I embarked on the Veganuary challenge—and our plates transformed. It was not easy or simple. The textures altered, the flavours shifted, and then something magical happened. After just one month, I felt lighter, more energetic, and mentally sharper. My skin glowed, and even my hair seemed to cheer me on.

Now, don’t get me wrong—I still occasionally craved those fish and chips or a perfectly cooked egg, so I didn’t deprive myself. Even now, I am pragmatic about my choices, especially when traveling. But the plant-based lifestyle has woven its magic into my life. And I know that I want to help others feel good through the food they consume.

My Story

The Curious Path

My fascination with health, beauty, and food began early—those childhood books I borrowed or bought were my first steps into this world. But life took me on a different ride: corporate marketing departments at global tech companies. At first, I loved it, but the stress eventually wore me down and crushed my soul. Deep inside, I knew there had to be more.

A Second Chance

Over 10 Years ago, fate intervened. A sub-arachnoid aneurysm burst, leading to a brain haemorrhage. Against the odds, I survived—with physical scars and some memory gaps. I knew that I’d been given a second chance and that I beat the odds as my work on this wonderful planet was not yet complete.

Arbonne and Plant-Based Living

Enter Arbonne—a network marketing company whose products transformed my skin and overall health. Inspired, I set up my mini-online shop to share these ethical, plant-based wonders. People noticed the changes in me, and I realised I could help others too.  I helped people to reset their health through a 30-day healthy living plan. Back to School

To provide a solid framework for my clients, I returned to school in 2019. The College of Naturopathic Medicine welcomed me for a Health Coaching course. Further still, nutrition and its role in optimising health intrigued me. So, I enrolled in a Culinary Medicine course by Dale Pinnock (yes, the TV guy!).  For my final project I delved into the world of Diabetes Type 2 and all the recipes I carefully researched and created were plant based.
